Adding mast pipe washers

Post by Sac town Sooner »

Does anyone have a secret to adding the two piece mast pipe washers without bringing in a crane to lift the motor up a couple of inches to slip these in?

What we do on 6 ft mills sometimes, is to turn the wheel to where the pumprod is up. loosen the mastpipe nut all the way. release the brake. Oh...do this on a day the wind doesn't blow. Put a vicegrips above the welltop on the jetrod touching the top of the headpipe. Slowly rotate the wheel, and the downstroke should lift up the head because it's blocked at the well top.
This works for 6 footers because it's pretty light weight. 8 footers, not so sure. Anyway, you really got to be careful, and keep your fingers out of tricky spots! Do with a helper also.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
