Old Site Question

Post by Kansas Rust Buzzard »

Is there anything left of the old site? I am not a computer person and I really have no idea what it involves to access it so please don't think I am asking for the moon because I don't want to trouble anyone. However, if it costs too much to host it as an archive, would it be possible to sell it in a digital form to people? I know some of the other sites I belong to have put their archives online as a non postable, read only, site. I would sure pay to have it, there was a bunch of good information there to us people doing restorations and some of them folks are not with us now to post again. Anyway, again, I don't want to step on anyone's toes, I am just asking if something is possible. I don't have the filing cabinets full of parts books some of you do so it really was a gold mine for me when I just have a quick question or need a photo for reference.

Thanks and everyone stay safe.

My web site is still on his server that is connected to the internet. It cost very little to connect to the internet with his server. My under standing as to why he quit supporting the site was [1] it was getting difficult for him to maintain it and [2] every time someone connected to the site it cost him money. I think he still has the site on his server. If some one were to contact him he might download the site to another computer and that person could make it accessible to every one. My pass word worked for a while and then he wiped my name off of the approved pass word list and I could not sigh up again.
To make a long story short it will just be manner of him making it available for download.( IF IT IS STILL ON HIS SERVER )I have his phone number, but I can not get an answer,
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks, if people want to chip in some money or whatever is needed to get it up someplace, I will sure donate. However, when it comes to digital stuff, I can make a Linotype work a lot easier than a computer.

I don't know if it is possible, but if he could copy the site on an external hard drive, I am sure a lot of us would buy them. I don't know one from Walmart would hold it or not but I have thousands of pictures on mine and its not near full?

I also enjoyed reading posts and seeing photos from the old site. Brad is a member on this forum and posted a year or more ago about the old site’s data.
