Woodmanse GB 8ft

Post by Centex Windmills »

Figured 6 projects wasn't enough so lets start at 7th.

Its a 8ft Woodmanse GB

This one is for a gentleman in the DFW area who had this windmill on the lot he bought and is building a house on and wants it restored to put by his entrance. Its the original windmill to the area ranch that is now very large homes, so if I can pull it off it will be a very cool project.

Its both completely worn out and not worn out at the same time. Tailbone pin, all the internal pins, pump rods chains etc.. almost zero wear. But the internal gear is broken the pinion gear is flat worn out and the snout is ovaled pretty good. My theory is something broke the internal gear leaving the pinion and fan to just spin and no one ever fixed it so none of the linkage moved much and no one put the brake on.

So now its a hunt for parts to try and save it and have it ready to put up at the completion of his home build.

I have 18 months, to get it done. Finding parts will be the hardest part, especially down here as i don't come across many woodmanse mills. If I can't find parts ill see if I can have them made, there is a cnc guy near me that can make nearly anything.

Teardown took about 5 hours its only up from here is the way i look at it a little welding, a little machining.

If it gets to expensive we will back up and go a different direction with a aermotor like mill of some sort.

If your town Weatherford is the one in Oklahoma, get ahold of Slade up north of you in Thomas. He probably has a whole head with your name on it.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
