I remember something about the 2 different storm stays. One required the bottom cap, and the smaller one did not use a cap. I have seen 37's with wear on the mast. Indicating it did not have the bottom cap

Well I used my bench grinder and wire wheel to clean up the nuts and bolts. Now I can see that some are bent, some are stripped and a couple have the threads wore away. ☹️

Next up is figuring out if I have enough nuts and bolts to assemble the struts and fan blades on the motor.

Does it matter if I put the fan on first before the tail assembly?

Thanks again for the advice and safety tips!

I've found that the wire wheel does a great job at removing unsightly finger prints from my fingers. Its also good at slinging parts across the shop. I don't think it matters if you put the fan on first. Another place I've found for square head bolts is Boltsandnuts.com

Be sure to post some pics when you get it up and running.

I currently have an aermotor 702 up in my yard. I was going to swap out the flint and walling for the 702; however, i'm just not sure how durable/reliable the flint and walling is. I really would like to put up another tower with the flint and walling, but not I'm really sure how my neighbors would feel about a second windmill. 😅

I think I might just end up selling the flint and walling model 37. I have two complete motors except one motor is missing the fan blades, which you can buy a new set for around $750. I have one stub tower as well.

Any ideas on what those would sell for?

Thanks for the compliments!

So I am starting to figure out how to mount the tail assembly on the motor. I have found the shaft that holds the tail onto the motor but it is too small for the holes that it goes through. I did find two bushings that fit the shaft, but those are slightly too big to fit in the holes that are on the motor. I can see on my second motor that it has bushings mounted in it. What is the best way to enlarge those two holes to fit the bushings, but not have them fall through the holes that hold the shaft.

Would anyone happen to have any clear picture of the tail assembly for the F & W model 37?

The 702 looks nice.

I’ve never worked on a Star 37, but found a few things that might help. I’m sure there are better photos out there with better resolution.
