Challenge "IMP"

Came across this guy with "Challenge" stenciled on one side of the vane and "IMP" in much smaller letters on the other. Does the IMP denote anything interesting? You can baaaarely see it in this pic.

It might have been a very early model 27 which they considered a improved model 26 that was a failure. Just a guess !!

And thank you too, Dan. The way the IMP is centered on the vane makes it look like it's not part of another word like Imperial, but more like IMP was the total title or phrase or designation.

So maybe IMP was short for "improved". I'll do some more digging on both those suggestions.

Now I see the pic it's not a 27 it's a open gear and I don't believe it's a challenge mill.

If the 'IMP' is after a dealer name, it could mean Implement.
