More of a preservation project. I like the original patina look. The wheel shown is actually the donor wheel but I need most of those vanes, just need to iron out a few wrinkles. Dan B. provided the tower cap, stay and vane swivel. Tailbone from Thomas Garnett and tail vane from Jimmie Christensen. The rest came from Mike near Yoder, Colorado.
Does this qualify as a Johnny Cash? I have many wind electric machines that were cobbled together from multiple sources.

Btw, I learned that the rear hub of the open gear is smaller than the oil bath Currie…at least for the 6’ model. The wheel I have was apparently for an oil bath so I had to make radial arm extensions.

Is that green hub original? I haven’t seen that before. Are the blades and tail original? They look perfect….Thanks for sharing.

As far as I know, it's all original. The only thing missing is the brake shoe. However I have one from a vehicle I was going to use, but never got it on.

Actually I was waiting for the ribbing dues to the cartoon colors. LOL

Interesting…Was the brake an option? Wincharger brake drums were from model T e-brakes. 8” and 10” were used. The shoe is steel since they’re only used to hold it off, not regulate speed.

I don't know the answer to that Mike. From what I've read on Currie open gears, I've never seen anything to that effect. Oh and I was going to put the brake shoe from a vehicle on, I don't mean to say it was a direct replacement. I would certainly think that they had their own type.
