Hey all, Thought I would keep updating my find's. I will be honest just over a month ago I had no idea what I was buying here but it turned out well. I got a bunch of random parts and pieces and some blades wrapped in paper, Wincharger gearboxes etc. I was told this unit had NOS blades and after removed from paper they do appear to be. I also pulled the cover and inspected brushes and the commutator and brushes do not look like they have ever spun. I wonder if the broke casting on the unit happened upon setup back in the day and then the unit never ended up getting put up.

Turns out this is a 32V 750W " Ruralite" rebranded as Fairbanks Morse Ruralite for the Canadian market. The casting that attaches the tail to the gearbox was broken as mentioned earlier. I welded them back together and put in a couple crude supports so I could set it up for display. I plan on cutting these pieces back out and welding in a solid piece of 1/8'' plate to look as factory as possible. This cast welds absolutely beautiful almost like regular steel. Normally I would search for another casting and bolt it in but I do not think I will find one. If you have one please reach out.

Enjoy the pics and I hope you enjoy viewing this. Always cool seeing new stuff.

Josh

Wow! Nice find, Josh! Mike is right, Rualites are not very common at all. I've only seen one in my 30+ years of messing around with pre-REA wind generators. You've got a keeper there!
