Well , that didnt turn out as good as I had hoped , developed several additional cfacks , so , still looking for a replacement large gear for Dempster # 12 10 ft fan

Yeah, gears like that can be a pain to weld. Heat them all over, and weld them in very short bursts. I've also cracked them during welding. Maybe I just worked into have better luck with time. I'm certainly not a pro welder.

Maybe try sticking it in the wife's oven at around 900 degrees for a while. LOL

Did I tell you jow much I dislike working on this 10ft Dempster !
It is together and turns over nicely , new bearings , new fan shaft , everything assembled with engine assembly grease , white stuff in a tube , Lubraplate . should last till someone else gets to put it up . :x

Mike what did you do about the broken gear? and it appears the upper pitmans are not pinned to the shaft yet?

Yes you did mention your disdain for the Dempster brand. LOL

Windy , your right , a few final pin's , fasteners , lock washers , etc . Just waiting for the frustration to subside before I touch it again . Also need a 10 ft fan & spider . Could use the bearing plate , tower top to hold it all in place . I do have the tail .
