Ken,
Just curious. Where did you come across this? Nice find.

I aquired it from Cliff Conway in Comanche TX.
Dropped by and visited him on the way to the Trade
Fair in Granbury TX.

Wow that was awhile back. That was my first Trade Fair. Cliff is always good for a story or two. He's a pretty ingenious fellow also kinda like Windy. I guess probably all old wind millers have to be to survive.

I guess we just missed each other. I stopped by Cliff's place on the way home from the Granbury Trade Fair that year.

Kenneth: F&W used both Timken bearing and High graphite Cast Iron bearings in the Model 37's.
They may have used babbitt, but I have never seen any reference to it or evidence on the 37's.
I will guess that the bearing in yours will look like the original in my picture below.
I machined bearing bronze sleeves for the one I restored.

That Hub is pretty neat.
Todd - What bronze alloy are you using? All those choices make my head hurt. I think McMaster lists like 8 different ones.

Ed: I normally use 932 Bearing bronze (SAE660). This is one of most common grades for bushings and bearings.

Jim, I guess we did miss each other.
I do not recall seeing you at the Trade Fairs prior to the last Lubbock Fair.
Todd, they are like the original shown in your picture.
Wasn't sure what it was. I had never seen them before.
Now if i can find the literature in an F&W catalog to go with the Star 12 hub on the 37
that would be nice.

I didn't know anybody except Chuck and loren at that trade fair. I had bought an Axtell Standard from loren I brought it and put it together on my trailer for the first time while there.
