Jacobs in New Mexico

This Jacobs Wind Electric turbine is in Nageezi NM. It has a "whale tail" vane and the whole thing appears to be in very good condition.

I think Wind Charger Mike would be interested to see this

That is pretty wide open country. We went through there on the way to Chaco Canyon.
The locals seem to know where the water is though.

Great find Venn. My first Jacobs came from eastern New Mexico. It belonged to “Herman the German,” who became a good friend, unfortunately now deceased. Herman started calling me Windcharger Mike.
Here’s a few more New Mexico Jacobs I encountered a few years ago in the mountains north of Edgewood. Do you recognize the machine on the left (2nd pic) that’s about to fall off the tower?

It looks like the Wincharger 4 blade model, 110V with aluminum blades

I checked and it fell down already...

Yes…it is a 4-blade Wincharger but it’s the 1946, wood blade model and this one happens to be 32V, same as all the Jacobs machines. I only know because I was fortunate to meet the guy that put them up and designed and built the structures on the property. He was a very accomplished and interesting guy. “Was” because covid got him. He had a phd in electrical engineering and in the 70s, BBC made a documentary about him and his off-grid and thermally efficient dome homes. His father was a physicist that worked on the manhattan project and won a Nobel prize for his research on neutrinos.

Also, I now know that Wincharger made a wooden bladed 4-blade model
