Windmill Brand?

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of windmill or tower you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

Windmill Brand?

Post by sbieber »

Hello everyone,

Was hoping I could get some information on a windmill that has been on my Uncle's farm. I crawled up the tower to find the markings in the picture attached but didn't notice anything else as an identifier. Hopefully these markings make sense to someone! I can get more pictures if need be to help out or if someone has an idea of where else to look on the windmill. I'd like to eventually rebuild it or find another brand to bolt up in its place. I'm not sure if location matters but this windmill is located on the Montana/North Dakota border.

Thank you!

The tower has EWP&P Co written on it, which stands for Elgin Wind Power and Pump Co :D

Good call!
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.

Thanks guys! I spent a bit of time trying to google that EWP&P Co and kept coming up empty handed. Is there a way to tell what model it is? Looks like Elgin made a few different models. I would assume maybe a model a or b?

I'm not an expert on Elgin windmills but I'm thinking model E .

It's not a model E. I have one. I think it could be an Original Monitor Vaneless. Page 132 in the Windmiller's Bible. Paul Cowley had one in his sale.

I was leaning towards either a No 2 or a Victor.

Perhaps that interesting pump rod holder will give a clue 🤔
