Restoring old grist mill
For the last few years obrian stone quarry has been restoring an old grist mill just down the road from me. What a beautiful entryway.

Looking good. I got to see them working on it last year when I visited you.

Is it water powered, or gas engine?
Re: Restoring old grist mill
I am in the same area as Dan, there were a lot of water powered grist mills around at one time, still several left, one just down the road from me, turned in to a house but the water is still running through it, always surprises me it is still standing thinking the water would have eroded away the foundation

Gregg do you remember seeing the tall brick chimney just down the road from the grist mill. That is all that is left from a early 1800 straw paper mill. This spring they reconstructed the top that was missing on the chimney but left it on the ground for people to see.

Dan, I do remember seeing it but didn't realize what it was. Interesting history.

There is a water powered grist mill North of Waco. It was brought in from up North somewhere and restored. I don't know that they grind a lot with it, manly for demo. If you are ever close to Wooster Oh. South off off Hwy 226 there is a place called Millbrook. Been a few years since I've been there, there is a mill that has a 4ft wide by 24 ft water wheel. It did everything grind, a saw mill, an apple press really unique. I don't know if it's still around. Last time I was there was 2005.
