Flint & Walling rudder stem?

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of windmill or tower you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

Flint & Walling rudder stem?

Post by Jim Corcoran »

I have what appears to be a Flint & Walling rudder stem. I don’t know what size mill this is for. I assume it is for a mill larger than an 8’ since it is the same style as my 8’ Star 37 tailbone but longer and heavier. Overall length is 9 feet 7-1/2 inches. Width at widest part is 12 inches overall and 10” between pivot pin holes. Angle and bar stock is 2” wide. Can anyone confirm what mill this belongs to? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Looks like for a Star 37 Zephyr. I would think it is for a larger mill.
