Dempster Diamand tail
Several months ago I picked up a 6 Ft. Diamond tail complete mill. The mill was close to a pond and on a wood tower. The anchors pulled out of the ground and the mill was laying in the pond. That is why the tail has a rust band on it. I restenciled the tail. The letters were very hard to read. IMG ...

Re: 6’ Open Gear Currie Project
Most of the wood pitman arms were made out of hard Maple.
These are new ones that I made for a 8 1/2 foot Eclipse. The holes are not drilled for the wrist pins. A lot of the older windmills had the wood pitman arms

The tail bone is 1/4 X 1 1/2 X 60" with a cross brace at 38" from the horse end. The brace is 3/16 X 1" flat iron.
Looking from the horse to the wheel the straight sides of the hood are to the wheel and Left side.

No notches on my case.
When I first saw your pictures of the hood I thought it looked like a Dempster # 11 hood latch.
I will get some measurements on the tail bone tomorrow.

I looked in the Spring 1994 Windmillers Gazette there is a illustration of a #14 that looks like yours.
In the Winter 2010 Gazette there is a parts list that shows the cross bar like yours.
In the list is part # 1430 Guide rod spacer Obsolete sub 01430 and cut-off screw.
the next line down it ...
